I was supposedly employed by Glen Manor Galleries through a person who goes by the name Christine Rajput, she advertised the virtual PA role in a facebook group which I unknowingly applied for. I did an interview, got an offer letter that states i will earn $600/wk and will work 4 hours per day, I signed the letter and even sent the signed copy back to her. I looked up the firm and it seemed legit with an office in Ontario, active account on facebook and instagram . I was asked to start work the following day. My first task was to create an email that includes antique in the mail name like [email protected]. Then I was asked to send an email to 13 out of 66 clients whom she hadnt responded to their emails, tendering an apology to them for delay in response and asking them to contact me directly as I am now her PA. Gosh it all seemed so legit until she sent me a cheque for $1000 which i deposited into my bank account, i was to purchase apple gift cards with the money and send the cards to clients. Unfortunately the check was kept on hold and I couldnt proceed with any purchase, she then asked me to purchase the gift card with my money and she'll reimburse later, oh my! that's when it struck me that it's all a scam and my bank confirmed to me that the check was fake. Let us be very careful out there! A huge lesson for me!
