I am a social media influencer and a company called Made of Memories offered me $200USD for a paid brand collaboration. The deal was that I create a video to promote their product. I did so by following their instructions but they asked me to add another thing to say, so I re-did it. I posted the video to my Facebook and Instagram accounts on the date that they asked me to. I also had an affiliate link to offer my audience a discount code and earn affiliate commissions, which I would use towards my nonprofit organization as explained in the video. I have proof that the videos reached over 60,000 accounts on social media. They then asked me for my personal banking information, which I found strange as I've always used PayPal for such a small amount. They were convincing telling me they have a simple way to send it like this, even sending me a screenshot of what looked like an app asking for specific information. I gave them all of my banking information, home address, and phone number. Suddenly it was hard to get ahold of them. I finally got a reply 5 days later. They told me that only 6 people visited their site from my link and so they wouldn't be paying me. I never had any deal with them about guarenteeing sales, nor is that realistic since consumers need many touch points before they will buy. For example, you can see brands like Flat Tummy Tea that have used thousands of influencers which helped them to become successful over a long period of time. I am just one person. It took me a long time to build my social media following. I then took the time to create not 1 but 2 videos for them. I even added them on my nonprofit's website. I would like my $200 and/ or I would like to warn other influencers so they are not scammed too. I also am hoping my personal information is safe. I am worried about that. They have all of my information. They sounded so nice and professional until they got what they wanted. After they said they won't be paying they ghosted me.
