Employment scam / fake cheque Reports & Reviews (2)

I am currently looking for a work from home job. I had gotten a text from a number saying that someone from the HR department was interested in my resume. I was asked to make a teams account and to follow the link in the message. Once I made the account I was to introduce myself to the HR personnel. Once introduced myself I was then responded back with the question “Are you ready to be briefed and interviewed for this position?” Of course I agree and was then told the process would happen via chat. I was offered a data entry clerk position paying at $25/hourly; $19/hourly during training which was going to be 3 days done virtually on video. Shortly After answering interview questions I was offered the job. I was then sent a contract agreeing to accept the position. I was then asked to put my address in the chat so that the company can send a check to buy the equipment through the company’s vendor. After about two days the check arrived via UPS. In the instructions after receiving the check I was told to deposit the check via ATM (which I didn’t I went inside the bank) I took the check to my bank(JP CHASE MORGAN BANK) and asked the bank to verify the check which was also had JP Chase Morgan on the check . At first they did say the check was legit but then recanted the statement and said they were not able to deposit or cash the check. (Which I wasn’t trying to cash the check in the amount of $4,655). I haven’t had contact with the HR representative going by the name of Christine Vance since I took the check to my bank to verify it was a legitimate check.

I applied for a job and spoke with people through chat via Microsoft teams and skype. After hearing information about the company and answering a questionnaire I was told "I just received a response from my superiors, are you ready for the company decision regarding our interview?" and then told "You scored 8.5 out of a possible 10. You have just been confirmed qualified for this position" and congratulated and welcomed to receiving the job. Set up to meet with the "training manager" the next day. I proceed shared personal information filing out "employment papers" and sending it back to their "hr department" ([email protected]). I was told I would be receiving a check from the company to buy working materials. They sent me a check of $5000 dollars which after doing some research I'm 100% is fake and their next steps would have been for me to buy the needed equipment and then return the rest of the money which would eventually result in the check "bouncing." Here are a few of the other emails involved in this [email protected]; [email protected]; [email protected]; [email protected]
