They reached out to me via text about a job offer, I am in the market for one. Then I was sent a teams link to have an interview with their HR Manager by the name of Damiana Peneyra. The interview seemed legit and I was offered a job several hours later. I was initially alarmed at how seemingly quickly the employment letter was sent over. Then the "onboarding" process started. Their accountant (William Compton email is [email protected]) sent an e-check for me to purchase a laptop and some software that was supposedly needed for the job. I deposited the check into my account but my bank put it on hold for 6 business days as they suspected fraud. I was told to reach out to Damiana at 8AM to touch base about the job, she asked if the check cleared and I responded that it did not and that it would take 6 business days though I did not specify the reason my bank stated. She was like okay, then said the company would arrange for a phone and laptop to be sent to me and I would then have to forward it over to their vendor to install the necessary software needed for the position. She then asked for my login information for my personal Verizon account, to which I responded no as I did not feel comfortable giving out that information and that I was astounded a large corporation like theirs did not have a corporate account. I have not heard back from her, my last correspondence with her was about 1 hour ago. I was a little weary of them after receiving the employment letter so I was asking questions between then and now that Damiana was answering suspiciously in my opinion. After I refused to give my personal information, she has not attempted to contact me so I think that was the point of this scam. They were using the name of a legitimate company so I feel like I have to notify you guys as I do not want this to happen to someone else who may be trusting enough to give their account information out. I have attached a copy of the signed employment letter. I also have a copy of the e-check and screenshots of my correspondence with Damiana if you need that. Unfortunately, this only lets me attach 1 document and I feel like you may want to see the letterhead and disclaimer they are using for their scam. Please feel free to reach out to me for any additional information you may need, I find the fact that they are trying to prey on individuals who are just trying to find employment utterly detestable and I would be glad to help in any way I can.
