I was contacted via text about a job offer for a remote customer service position. I was informed that I need to begin interview process via ZOOM. After I was interviewed, I was told that I was hired and was emailed my offer letter with all the details. They said company stated that they will send me a company check to buy the equipment and software that was needed for the job. IQ Consortium emailed me the check with instructions for mobile deposit that was issued from a totally different company (a last firm based in Houston,TX) I called the law firm to verify if they had any affiliation with IQ consortium and they said that they did not and that they had a few people call regarding the same issue and that it was a identity theft situation and that they are part of a investigation and that I should make a report. The “supervisor” then kept asking if I finished with making the deposit. I told him that I was walking for check to be verified with my bank ( check was not deposited in my account at all) I told him that my bank requested more verification from my place of employment and he said that he will send verification. Nothing was ever sent. He stopped communicating with me.
