I applied for a position as a Data Entry Clerk via the Indeed.com website. Per my searches Indeed sent me a list of positions suitable to apply for based on my credentials. I applied for a position listed for the company K & L Gates, a law firm group. The “human resource” manager reached out, suspiciously, through the Signal messaging app. I was asked to interview, then was messaged a questionnaire with various bland questions like “Do you own a printer?” and “After training do you believe you can complete the given tasks?” After answering I was told to expect a message about the offer the following morning.

The following morning I received an email asking for me to fill out tax forms, direct deposit paperwork, and to sign a hiring agreement because I was being offered the position. It was fishy, so I asked if the supposed hiring manager could offer any proof of legitimacy. When they “assured” me that it was indeed a legitimate offer (with no actual proof) I replied that I would be reporting the incident.
