I applied for the Customer Service Representative position advertised on Workable.com on October 8, 2024, for a company claiming to be Litera. Shortly after, on October 16, 2024, I was contacted via email by someone named Kane Nelson. The email included the following instructions:
"Please review the job description attached and install the Microsoft Teams app on your iOS or Android device. Follow the simple signup process to create an account. Once signed in, type '[email protected]' in the search bar and start a new conversation with your interview manager, Russell Gutierrez. If you encounter any difficulties setting up Microsoft Teams, feel free to email me for assistance."
I was interviewed via Teams messaging by Russell Gutierrez around October 18, 2024. Shortly thereafter, Mr. Gutierrez messaged me via Teams, informing me that I had a phone interview scheduled with Brett Thompson, Litera’s Sales Manager. The phone interview took place at 2:00 PM the same day, and ended with Mr. Thompson officially offering me the position. I then received several onboarding documents and requests for personal information.
However, upon researching the company, I found the official HR contact information for **** ******, Director of Talent Acquisition. After emailing to verify the legitimacy of the job offer, I was informed that the individuals I had been communicating with were not employees of Litera. I immediately ceased all communication with the perpetrators and blocked all contact.
