Employment Scam - ScienceLogic Impostor Reports & Reviews (2)

- Antioch, TN, USA • Jul 11, 2024

I submitted my resume for a role at Science Logic. I received a letter of interest from [email protected] (ScienceLogic's domain name does not include '-careers') and a survey with job related questions. I filled that out and sent it back. I received an offer letter two days later. No interview. However, with the actual company's website to check, everything looked correct, and the process appeared legitimate at that point still. Cody passed me over to a person named Craig, with whom I've been communicating via text at the number that was entered in the first part of the report.

After signing the offer letter and sending a copy of my license, as all employers request, I was then informed that since this role was remote and virtual, 'ScienceLogic' would send me a check to purchase the equipment needed for that role. That, while still entirely feasible, did raise a bit more suspicion. The check was sent yesterday. It even has ScienceLogic's logo on the check However, the recipient address given to me by Craig, was flagged as potential scam by venmo and Zelle, and not company based addresses/usernames. Additional flags were raised when Craig asked me to try different amounts to send when the initial attempt was rejected, and to a different recipient, of which was also flagged as spam. I then informed him that we will resume this procedure tomorrow (i.e. today).

I contacted my credit union to confirm if they could freeze those funds but since the check cleared, those funds are 'mine' as far as that process goes/they are concerned, and that the account was safe otherwise as long as I didn't authorize any transactions (outside of the Zelle and Venmo, which their security denied). I would like guidance on what to do with those funds, as I still have the amount that was sent to me. I informed Craig that I do not feel comfortable with proceeding, and he insists this is legitimate. However, I told him I'd like to rescind my offer acceptance and send the check back to a physical address. He gave me a residential address (another red flag) of an apartment unit.

If this is somehow a legit role (with the company being quite disorganized), I am prepared to send that money back, but if this is a scam, what should be done with said funds? I have not paid anything out of pocket and I have given out no bank account or card info and authorized no transactions outside of monthly bills. I currently see no obligation to return those funds if this is a scam.

I contacted the company 'ScienceLogic.com' HR department at 1-800 724-5644 and left them a message regarding this potential scam using their name. No response as of yet.

I can provide any and all email and text correspondence, and a copy of that check that was sent as well.

I can be reached at either ****************************** ** ************ for additional information.

I am currently dealing with a very similar situation, in VA. It's a remote position and the company name is different, Rafay Systems. The company seems legitimate as far as I can tell, but I am dealing with a "trainer" named Craig with the very same phone number. I'm curious if you were able to determine if this was in fact a scam.
