I was approached by this scammer for a remote data entry position on LinkedIn but we predominantly spoke predominantly spoke via Microsoft Teams. I spoke with a hiring manager who "interviewed" me over the chat feature and passed me along to one who would be my supervisor. They told me I was hired and sent me the paperwork to fill out. It was standard new hire paperwork like a W-4 and direct deposit information. They mailed me a check that was supposed to be used to purchase my equipment and sent me an address to their distribution center. However, looking up this address led me to a grocery store on the far end of the state. When I asked my contact about it (we all make mistakes, maybe the address changed recently) but they were adamant about the location being correct. I told them that I was going away for the holidays and wouldn't be available for a couple of weeks which gave my bank enough time to bounce the check they sent me as fraudulent.

They approached me on Jan 9th or 10th with a job offer snd after an extensive interview on Microsoft teams they saidni got the job. The next day they gave me paperwork to fill out and for the next week they gave me assignments like "please write about how youve had to overcome difficulties in the work place in at least 500 words". Then on Jan 24 i got a check for $4950 and after depositing it they instructed me to send them to vendors for work st gome equipment and after spending it the check was cancelled and its been two weeks with a check being mailed out, they gave me a tracking number they kept daying will be updated and since it was never updated. I havent heard from them in over a day st this point.
