I have been searching for employment on indeed.com and recently have received emails and phone calls from companies saying they located my resume on indeed and were reaching out about jobs. Luckily I googled the company before I clicked on any links and read reviews about how these companies scammed people out of money and stole their private information. Indeed used to be a good website to use for job searching however now it seems to be full of scammers who have access to our resumes and personal information!! I have dispatched for almost 20years and in the past month, I have received anywhere from 3-5 emails a week regarding fake dispatching positions with companies that claim they found my information on indeed. The emails usually start off with "Hi Friend, I found your resume on Indeed and am looking to fill a dispatcher role within my company starting at $52.00/ hr. If interested please click the link below to fill out a form to have a recruiter call you and speak to you about this position in further detail."

Somehow, the scammer or spammergot my phone number to send me their scam or spam text

- Danville, PA, USA

"Hey I am Ally I have a new position that just became available, and I think it could be a great fit for you. Would you like to know the specifics?"

Assuming it was a fake, I responded: "Hi Ally! I'd be happy to hear about it. Just answer a few questions for me. 1) What's my name? 2) What's my current role? 3) What's my current company? 4) Where did you get my number? 5) What's in it for you if I say yes to a new job?

Ally: "I don't know you. We work with many job agencies like Jobstreet, LinkedIn, and we got your contacts through them. This is a remote position in digital marketing, where you are primarily review and rate carious client products on a sales website. Our company name is KForce."

Me: "Then how do you know I am a great fit?"

Ally: We have P-time or F-time roles available with an income range of 240-680, taking 30-60 minutes daily. Daily payouts are guaranteed. Are you a U.S. citizen or valid S.S.N. holder and ages are above 25? You don't need to provide your information, you only answer Yes or No."

Me: "I think that's the basic information you should know before you text someone. At this point you should probably just tell me where you got my number."

No more answers from Ally.

Sender was wanting me to text her phone number. Text message was fairly detailed, she claimed to have received my resume from several online recruiters, but my resume is only currently posted on one website, and that was for an INTERNAL government posting.

"Spa'am" e-mails are circulating claiming "You could earn $500 at home just from one day ... Shocking Report About Mary's System! Increase Your Income From Home Today!", with a link to supposed "information" explaining the supposed "system." (E-mails sent to "spam" folders have links disabled out of concern for possible harm and mischief ensuing to the computer via malware, viruses and Trojan horses.)

The which raises concern about the clear and present likelihood of exploiting vulnerable persons needing extra income, yet lacking the proper skills to find suitable employment or access jobs training--especially under emerging circumstances of socioeconomic uncertainty. Too, questions need to be raised as to whether the "Mary" behind this supposed "system" is flesh-and-blood or AI-generated, and whether the claims can be substantiated.

Contacted regarding a job opportunity. We’re very pushy about getting on Zoom or teams chat to go over the interview. When asked what the positions entail they failed to respond.
