Based on the letter's content, it is stated that they "have just been advised there will be a price increase to our Extended Vehicle Serice Plan (EVSP) effective June 2, 2022. After that date, we will not be able to honor the service contract pricing designed specifically for your 2022 Kia Telluride."
Given that I've purchased said vehicle- new, I additionally purchased a warranty that covers the vehicle over a period of ten (10) years.
When receiving this documentation, I felt the need to further clarify the situation by calling the number listed: 1-866-221-3084; where an operator/ agent begins to state the 'issue's with my current warranty and his extended warranty.'
The operator has sensitive information with regards to my vehicle history and preyed upon that history in an effort to coerce us in "needed to resolve the matter immediately." He inquired about the current 'issues' that my vehicle was having and noted that these would no longer be covered in the case of future occurrences, again implying that he was a KIA associate. Additionally, he implied to be certain about the lack of contractual obligations by the basic warranty coverage and stated that "no further [electronic] issues would be addressed past June 2, 2022."
As the phone call progressed, it became apparent that the purpose of the mailed letter was to confuse the consumer(s) who purchased a recently *new vehicle, i.e. this was their target audience... with the sole intent of misleading the target into a new contractual obligation based on the verbiage of the letter, specifically, their statement that implies 'Loyalty Pricing.'
Within the extensive conversation with the agent, he additionally stated that he was 'affiliated with KIA.' He proceeded to request our information to 'resolve the pending issues.' When pressed about the issues he implied, he then asked if I had any extended warranties with KIA and asked for the contract/ policy number!
I did not provide it, since he surely should be able to see it since he is "affiliated" (with KIA.)
Upon this exchange, the agent became more transparent and expressed his reluctance to continue further in the conversation after we made it clear that this letter was not a mere issue, but a tactic to scare and coerce someone into purchasing a useless warranty.
Lastly, in the 'fine print,' the caveat reads: "The Administrator/ Obligor of the vehicle service contract is Endurance Dealer Service, 400 Slokie Blvd. Suite 105, Northbrook, IL 60062. All claims must be pre-authorized before repairs are made. Parts of like kind and quality may be used. Endurance Warranty Services, LLC (EWS) is an independent nationwide company marketing on behalf of leading third-party administrators and is not affiliated with any auto dealer or manufacturer. This is an advertisement to obtain coverage. EWS is located at400 Slokie Blvd. Suite 105, Northbrook, IL 60062. See contract for complete coverage details."
The information stated/ printed on the letter is designed to confuse, and provoke undue fear and urgency in those with a certain target audience with a goal of misleading the consumer into purchasing a service based on conjured lies.
