I had been looking for remote part time or full time work. On Sunday April 10, I got a text about a job as a personal assistant for Energizer working from home sending packages to foster homes. I didn’t think nothing of it because companies are now texting people about jobs. I ask for the website because I wanted to make sure they were legit. They sent me a website from the actual company Energizer site. I also ask for an employment letter after they said I was hired. They ask me if I wanted the job because I guess I was asking too many questions. I was suspicious so I played along. They said they got my information off of indeed. I haven’t been on indeed in a long time. They kept texting me back and forth. I sent an email with questions I had. They never responded until I ask for the employment letter again. They sent me a letter and had one of the executives of Energizer’s name on the letter. How I knew that because, I went on the website to make sure it was a legit company and website. I begin to ask several questions and they said I was trying to tell them how to run their company. I am still playing the role like I was interested. I told them I have other offers and they need to provide me answers to my questions which they never did. I ask them at the end of the year will I get a W2 or 1099. They just told me I was part time. I also ask them for an employee handbook and I wouldn’t be getting a handbook because I was part time. I was still playing the role. I knew they were scammers. They told me that I will be getting the check in the mail and let them know when I received it. I ask them why should I get a check if they are a legitimate company and they should have an account to do the job. They said a check would be mailed to me and I should use my account. I said not my account. I told them ok even though I wasn’t going to do it just to see how far they would go. They then told me that their phone was acting up and they will text me on a new number. I knew then something was wrong again. They provided me with a tracking number with USPS. It was generated , but not processed. I then told them that. This was on a Sunday and they wanted me to start on a Wednesday which I found that out after asking them a few days later. They told me I would get the letter in 24-48 hours. I got it in 48 hours. I ask them about hours and they said 25 hours a week. By Wednesday I hadn’t received the check. I checked the tracking number and the check was headed my way. It said it will be delivered on Thursday by 9pm. They text me to see if I received it and I told them my mail person had ran for the day. But, when I checked it again around 3:30 it had been delivered. I was on the phone with my best friend and I told her the check was delivered. I told her I would call her back to see what else was in there. The check was the only thing in the envelope. The check looks like a normal check, but I was suspicious about the whole thing. I had told them I was going to take it to the bank to let them see if it was a fraud check. I called the bank that was on the check. The banking account was real, but the company name was wrong. They used another company on the check. I have contacted all the parties involved. They couldn’t believe it. I told them they were scammers and I haven’t heard from them anymore. I also told them I was going to report them and they messed with the wrong one.
