It started with a voicemail stating the person who was calling was a locator and went on to say if I didn’t call back I was facing criminal charges and they would locate me - I call back and am transferred to someone who was very aggressive and telling me I was going to jail if I didn’t set up a payment arrangement I thought it was strange they had my address from 17 years ago and all my information from 17 years ago she read me my driver license number and my social and she mentioned the debt was from advance America and stated I had multiple charges pending including passing bad checks and fraud upon a financial institution I know I had never dealt with advance America and any debt I ever had with a check cashing place was resolved a long time ago like 20 years so the threats made me nervous and I set up a payment plan they immediately took 72.42 from my bank so of course when I called advanced America they told me it was a scam so I had to change my phone number and all my banking information so now I just have to wait to see if I get court papers which probably will not happen however now they also know where I live.
