I called Epson support from the Epson.com site. It was a fake site that looked completely authentic with 2700+ products on 80 pages. It had a Canada / USA help number which I called. The fake tech support person told me they needed to install a software update and needed access to my laptop through remote dial in. I allowed them access to dial in. They then said my screen would go blank while installing the upgrade. They highjacked my laptop while keeping me on the phone talking to me for over an hour while extracting all my information. I only got wind when I got an email on my phone saying my PayPal password was being changed. They were trying to steal money from my accounts as all my passwords were saved on my laptop

I contacted THEM thinking that I was calling Epson for Technical support for my Printer. After all, I got the number right from what looks like a Genuine Epson Support page. Turns out, they were SCAMMERS. Unfortunately, before I caught on, they talked me into granting them access to my Laptop by activating my "TeamViewer" software which allows Remote access and control to an outside party. I'm normally VERY CAREFUL of this type of software because it allows outside entities to access your system but they successfully got me to login to my Epson account to pull up my printer purchase info while they WATCHED before I realized what was going on. Then, they proceeded to try to convince me that the reason my INK cartridges were no longer recognizable by my printer after Firmware update was because my NETWORK had been compromised and that hackers were NOW IN CONTROL of my network and were attacking the BANK account tied to my Epson purchase. PLEASE KNOW THIS IS COMPLETELY ILLOGICAL and should IMMEDIATELY tip you off to a SCAM! They TRIED to get me to LOGIN to my BANK account to confirm that there was no suspicious activity but I refused. I avoided a potentially major financial breach by doing so but I DID allow significant damage to happen by allowing them access to my computer and they were able to compromise a number of my saved passwords and caused me to have to CLOSE my bank account, cost me a day of work and spend an entire day changing passwords to all my financial sites, social media sites and everywhere ultimately. I consider myself lucky but this was definitely a horrible experience. The frustration of this situation was compounded the next day when I finally DID get ahold of Epson and they basically tried ripping me off again by insisting I buy THEIR ink at a stupidly expensive price despite the fact it was THEIR firmware that caused the problem.

This company emailed me a discount code because they could not fix my printer. The customer service rep said I could get a 15-20% discount off refurbished printers on Epson; use the link. The code did not work. When I spoke to CSR the second time, CSR stated only new printers. However, the promo code would not discount a new printer the following day. Furthermore, the promo states 'applied' to the order, but no discount.
