This is a spin off of the original secret shopper scam I reported earlier. Originally, I was actually sent instructions through the mail to purchase the credit cards along with the check to do so. Of course I did not follow through.

Recently I was sent a (text message) asking me to proceed with my original instructions.

These people are relentless. It is scary that they have personal information.

Please do not respond to any of their messages.

I received an envelope by USPS. It was addressed to me correctly. Inside was a check for $ 2390.73. I was to be a Secret Shopper. The directions in the letter were very specific. I was to take out out $295.00 for my commission. Shop for personal groceries for $45.00. Buy 2 American Express Cards for $500.00 ( at two different stores) . It even included the Activation Fees Amount for $11.90. I was to peel off the labels on the cards; take a photo of the cards; front and back, then send to [email protected]. I was then to go to the website and report on such things as the friendliness of the store associate etc....

The instructions said to go to the bank immediately and cash the check for record purpose. It stated if I could not cash the check then deposit it and the funds would be available in 24 hours. The Credit Union they are using is CoVantage Credit Union, *** ***** ******* ******* ** *****. This is a legitimate Credit Union. When I called them; they were aware of the scam and they were working towards a remedy for the situation.
