I had recently went to Illinois and I did owe tolls for going through 3 tolls in Illinois. I had set up an account the illinois toll company and had checked often to see what I owed in toll charges. They just were never coming up, then one day ( June 26, 2024 ) I received a msg from Sunpass toll service for toll charges, the amount was $19.51. I knew I owed a charge to Illinois, I did try looking up this company as it seemed to be out of Florida and I only traveled to Illinois, but I thought this company may also manage Illinois accounts for tolls. So I preceeded to pay what was said I owed. The situation seemed strange, but I didn't check into it any further. Than last week I received a bill from Illinois for unpaid tolls. I then contacted Illinois and did pay the correct place. I did then contact our credit card company realizing we had been scammed for charges we hadn't authorized. So far everything has been ok on our card, the weird thing is, they haven't taken that amount that they texted about as of yet. I am a little concern they are waiting to take advantage of our credit card. We are going on vacation this next weekend, really don't have time to get a new card at this point. Please advise as how we should proceed on our end to make sure we don't become more of a victim.
