On July 31, 2023, I needed to contact Customer Service for Etsy. I googled them and used what was said to be Authentic Etsy. The number I called from this Google search was 805-874-9566 at 8:44 a.m. I was quickly transferred three times, thinking I was talking to Etsy Customer Service I followed the instructions to confirm my PayPal account. I was told to log into PayPal and tell the Etsy employee about the two small deposits he made on PayPal. While I was there looking for the deposits, somehow, he was lurking in the background, and while I was searching for these deposits, he created a Go2Bank account and transferred my money into it. There was no indication that he was doing this, i.e., cursor movement or drop-down windows. Then all of a sudden, I saw my balance go from $6063.08 to 0. I immediately asked this man named Adam Smith what he did. He told me it was necessary for him to validate my PayPal account with Etsy. I knew at that moment that I had been scammed, and this thief was relentless. He texted and called me for the next few days, trying to get me to follow his instructions again. He wanted me to open my bank account, and when I said absolutely not, he became angry at me. I filed a complaint with the FTC and a police report in Vancouver, WA. I am a senior citizen, almost 80, and this thief took all my savings. I am now broke and devastated.
