I listed an item on FB Marketplace to help a friend. I received an immediate message regarding the item from the person listed above. She wanted the item but wanted to send a six digit code to his phone number and then have me show it to her, she said in order to verify he was a real person. So we sent her the code but then she said something was wrong with his number and to send her another cell phone number. I said there is nothing wrong with his number, I just spoke to him. Then she got very pushy and started insisting I send her my cell phone number. At that point, I knew something was wrong and I told her I thought so and we'd rather find another buyer. My friend is now very worried about identity theft and I feel terrible. Is there any advice for him or recourse with this person? Obviously, when I went back and looked at her FB profile, I realized it wasn't even real.
