I was contacted via email by an Ian Forte from Everyday Health Group, he said I was shortlisted for an interview because of my resume. I’ve been looking for a job for about a month now, my resume is everywhere. He said he found it on indeed. The email said to contact Catherine McConnell via the telegram app, @catherinehrdesk. I had an “interview” with her, which was basically 10 basic questions that you would be asked in a normal interview. Asked who I banked with to be sure it tallies with the companies salary account? I should’ve realized then. Everything seemed very legit, she then told me that they would be sending me a check for supplies and a $900 sign on bonus for myself. They want to send me the money to be sure I can be trusted with company funds. I mobile deposited the check, finished the interview and went about my day, I was not home. Finally got home and started researching names and things and couldn’t find her name or Ian’s name anywhere having to do with everyday health. I told my BF about it and he said you can be scammed that way too, which I was unaware of. I haven’t had to job search in 7 years, I thought maybe that’s how they were doing things these days. After further research I found on this ScamPulse.com scam site the same thing that is happening to me right now. I called my bank to let them know the check is fraudulent and will probably bounce. I also gave the bank all of the scammers info that I had.
