I needed to confirm a hotel reservation I had made through Expedia. I could not find a phone number for the company anywhere. I googled Expedia and went to a website that was expedia.com and found a phone number to call. I called this number and was run through a series of questions, the language barrier was horrible and it was very hard for me to understand the person. After I provided my email address they were able to find my itinerary and phone number. they were able to send me a text to act as if it was a safety verification. What they were telling me regarding my reservation was making no sense and they were asking me for money. Once he asked me for my date of birth, (which I declined to give him) I became suspicious, he then asked me for my credit card number and I started telling him I was fine with my reservation and needed no help he kept persisting and trying to get me to give him information. It clearly was a scam. I decided to just hang up.I read on the Better Business Bureau that in 2019 there was a scam where this was happening when people googled a phone number for Expedia. Even though I was smart enough to know not to give them information I am sure there are plenty of people out there that would not be so smart and I though you should know. Please let me know if I can further assist. I am not sure if it helped? I went to a website that was expedia.com and the phone number I called was 855-559-0764. Also the hotel confirmed that the person I talked to was incorrect. Thank you!
