This scam started on 2/2/24 when I posted a facebook post about selling a textbook. This person named "Amber Kinda," he wanted to pay for my textbooks through zelle. When he wanted to pay for my textbooks he suggest that we both needed to pay for this "government fee." So that we can receive our funds back. He gave me the email of the zelle "represenative." "We should be crediting your account now but we noticed your account has been limited and not a business account so it can’t be credited, so we need you to contact the sender to send in an additional amount of $300.00USD to your Zelle account so it can be changed to a business account and be credited immediately with $376.16USD into your account." After this amount then the same person and Amber would rush and pressure me to pay for more fees and continually to make fake promise of paying me immediately and stating each payment will be the last one. I was to supposed to screenshot every payment to "ensure" that the money was taken out of account. I was told by this person that I needed to make these payments to many different accounts. I paid a total of 900$ through zelle to [email protected]. Then the next day in 2/3/24 I was expected If the payment was bounced or denied when I paid them because I was paying to unknown user. Then I would pay through paypal and venmo to different personal accounts. The person emailing me would state I need to send these funds as "Family and Friends," in venmo and paypal. I paid through venmo $270 to an Edward Oshea and I paid $270 to Oseni Lawal. I paid to Micheale Hankinson $630 with the venmo username @Lizard20. And I paid 200 to Tracey Jamison. This person in the email would make me pay to all these different accounts promising that I would get my money back immediately after paying these government fees. After pressuring me to pay these fees and being pressured by this email and Amber through facebook messenger. They would promise reimbursement to all the money I spent and the $76.16. At the end they promised me 2276.16 and make me wait for 4-5hours to only ask me to pay for more fees to these different paypal and venmo accounts. At some point the same person in the email asked me to send money to [email protected] and [email protected] through zelle. Then this person would email me again saying that they were hacked and do not send money to these accounts. This pattern would repeat and promsing me money of bigger amounts and saying that they would pay in 15 min or 1 hour or immediately and be silent for 5 hours. Eventually when they wanted money they would tell me what to do on the subject of the email. Today as of 2/5/24 I was able to call Zelle customer support only to realize that the email that I was contacting telling me to do these payments; [email protected] and [email protected] were not associated with the company at all.
