Fake Credit Charges Reports & Reviews (1)

- Tucson, AZ, USA

Someone acting like a rep from Amazon's fraud dept. called from a number showing it was from Delaware. I typically don't pick up calls like this but I was expecting a call from back east. There was no mention of Amazon on the caller ID. They told me that someone had bought a computer with my account. When I logged in and told them I saw no order, they told me it was another account associated with my email. They then said a text verification for the order was sent 2 days ago and accepted, and saying I might be the victim of identity theft. I hung up when the rep started talking about having to connect to my bank. No money was lost but I can see that the next step could have led to something bad. When I called the number back it went to a busy tone.

I called Amazon directly and they didn't have any records on any of it.
