Received a letter for my 70+ year old mother from CENTURY LNDG CO stating, "Final Notice," and that her property's home warranty, with her full name and address listed, "may be expiring or may have expired" signed by their "Program Director." The title makes absolutely no sense for a home warranty company. Also stating "our records indicate that you have not contacted us yet to get your Home Warranty up to date" and so forth. Using the word "get" is comical. They list their number as 1-877-499-4406 but no website or email address. That's a clear sign they aren't a real company. I googled their name and couldn't find anything of course except another person reported them on BBB. I nor my mother has made contact with them. I wanted others to be aware of their phishing attempt via postal mail.

They are attempting to get my mortgage and want me to pay them for a home warranty. They have my name before I got married.

- York, PA, USA • Dec 03, 2024

Received a letter "Final Notice" from "Home Warranty Division." This letter named myself, my address, my actual bank, and attempted to scare me into calling a marketing line by pretending to be a notice about a service this unnamed, untraceable "business" has never provided me.

ATTENTION: (my name)

It is important you contact our office at 1-888-404-4504 upon receiving this notice to avoid any unnecessary delays in your coverage before 12/10/2024 (note: I don't have coverage with this company.)

This notice is to inform you that the property's home warranty, at (my actual address here), secured by (my actual bank's name), may be expiring or already expired.

Our records indicate that you have not contacted us yet to get your Home Warranty up to date.

Please call immediately as this will be our final attempt to notify you about activating your Home Warranty.

Failure to call and prevent a potential lapse in coverage could result in you being liable for all costs associated with any home repairs. However, you still may have time left to activate a warranty on your home before it's too late. No inspection will be required and final acceptance is subject to your ability to meet eligibility requirements.

We reserve the right to revoke your eligibility for service coverage after the Expiration Date of 12/10/2024. Please respond immediately by calling 1-888-404-4504.

Sincerely,

Wade Grant

Program Director

A very official looking mailing. If this is an actual business and not a total scam (it could be a combination) this direct marketing piece is awful. The "Final Notice" might worry elderly or uneducated people to call at which time the business/scammers likely harass the target to purchase a home warranty that is probably fake. The notice's wording is constructed to fool the target while avoiding flagrant violations of mail fraud laws. This should be referred to the USPS Inspection Service.

Letter for "Home Warranty" expired. Asking to renew it. Did not call.

- Hyattsville, MD, USA • Oct 09, 2024

I received a letter in the mail from the Home Warranty Division. It said that the warranty on my house was or has expired. I’m just a renter. It said to call Wade Grant at the phone number provided in order to renew a warranty. Seems fairly official with a customer ID number and barcode, but because there was no actual business name or website, nor was there a return address, I knew it was a scam.

Amber Lawrence is the name of the scam letter writer. No address was provided, only phone number to call. The letter claimed my home warranty is expiring and asks to call the number to activate it.
