I, the accountant, received an email regarding a supposed past due invoice owed by my company, ********* ******* ***. This email was made to look like a forwarded email conversation between my boss ***** and this person from the scam company. The problem with the supposed email from my boss was that her email signature and the included intellectual quote were both missing from the message. The invoice and a request for taxpayer identification were attached to the scam email. The "invoice" was for consulting services we never ordered or used, and in the amount of $38,785.00. I printed off the email thread and attached it to the invoice I printed so that we have it on record in case anyone needs it for investigation purposes.
