Last week I received a phone call from a "National Life" (there are many long after the one that built the TN Tower is gone as to brand). I let the call roll over to the machine. Quoting closely to what the robocall said, "As a senior between ages 50 and 85 you know that under the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) that you are required to have a sufficient amount of life insurance so as to avoid penalties."
When I heard that, I ran for the phone and picked up and waited for a live person. Pleasant fellow. I informed him that the ACA requires a certain level of health insurance and that I know any number of companies (Colonial Penn, MetLife, etc.) sell the life product and indeed there is a need for such. BUT, do NOT scare people in our senior years by telling them falsely that the ACA law requires us to buy any other insurance (life, LTC, property & casualty, etc.)
Thankfully he looked at the script of the Robocall and informed me that indeed such was what "National Life" was doing. I told him to address my issue before senior management. Else I'll refer the matter to BBB, TDCI, etc. TDCI has no sense of humor as to deliberately false marketing practices or at least they didn't in my more salad days.
My caller ID was "Asinah Griffin. 479.288.5303." Such was not the name of the CSR on the phone and all that ID info may be false.
I thought immediately that TALS should spread the word because you represent the more likely to be poor. I need to contact TDCI and BBB (unless you've got a direct line to them, then I'd appreciate your letting them know) as I rather think the lad birded me off by saying that he'd see such was corrected. Maybe yes, most likely no.
I hope the above is of help to you and your colleagues.
