Type of a scam Tech Support
This man asked me what my issue was. He then asked me to go to my laptop and enter text into my command window/field. He proceeded to install software onto my laptop and "remote in" to my laptop. He told me I had foreign users on my network, and that I needed "network firewall" protection, and that he had Microsoft Certified Technicians handy who could fix this for me.
I started to realize that I had been transferred to some sort of scam and hung up the phone. WTH?
I WAS TRANSFERRED TO THIS MAN FROM SLINGTV!! How is this even possible?
I emailed Roku. They said this man was NOT a Roku employee. I called SlingTV and they blamed everything on Roku.
So, I'm left with a hacked computer, hacker software on my laptop and no recourse to do anything about it. Awesome.
I'm waiting for my bank and credit cards to have funds removed, and accounts to be started in my name.
I changed my user/passwords on my bank and signed up for ID theft protection today ($12/month)
