Advised me up front that the phone call would be recorded and monitored by the FTC, Financial Crime Enforcement Network, and the BBB. He said he needed the last four digits of my SSN to verify he was talking to the right person. I gave him phony numbers.
He claimed My SSN was found to be associated with bank and credit card numbers used to wire narco funds to Mexico and Columbia. The documents it was on were seized in raids on two houses in El Paso, TX. I let him talk for awhile before i hung up.

Called my office number. The number on caller ID was (901) 757-3415 - note the area code and exchange are the same as my number. Recorded message said my SSN had been involved in suspicious activity and I should press 1 for more info. I pressed 1 and was connected to a live person.
First caller - Officer Daniel Carmen with the SSA. Gave me his badge number and my case number:
• Advised me up front that the phone call would be recorded and monitored by the FTC, Financial Crime Enforcement Network, and the BBB.
• Needed the last four digits of my SSN to verify he was talking to the right person. I gave him phony numbers, but lo and behold, I'm still the right guy.
• My SSN was found to be associated with bank and credit card numbers used to wire narco funds to Mexico and Columbia. The documents it was on were seized in raids on two houses in El Paso, TX.
• Officer Carmen grilled me as to whether I or a family member or friend using my SSN was involved. I assured him the answer was no and did my best to act appropriately concerned.
• Advised me that warrants had been issued for my arrest and seizure of my assets.
• Since I claimed I was innocent, he needed to refer the matter to the Memphis Police Department to work it out.
I then got a call from Officer Hayman Marshall with the Memphis Police Department:
• Memphis Police Department showed up on my caller ID.
• He gave me his badge number and told me Officer Carman with SSA had faxed my info to him.
• He grilled me again about whether I or anyone I knew was involved.
Then he went in for the kill by telling me what I would have to do to extricate myself from the situation:
• Since I appeared to be innocent, I was eligible for their ADR (Alternate Dispute Resolution) program.
• To protect my financial assets from seizure, I would need to convert them to digital currency and deposit the money into a secure government wallet to prevent the seizure. He asked me for an estimate of how much money I had in bank accounts that I would want to protect.
• I would start the process by going to Walmart or Walgreens, both of which are affiliated with the government, and buying prepaid debit cards.
• Tomorrow, he and two other officers would show up at my house to issue me a new SSN, void the warrants, and transfer my money back to my accounts from the secure government wallet.
• I should not tell anyone about the situation.
The deal fell apart at that point because I had to give him my cell phone number so that he could call me on it and stay on the line while I went to the store and bought the prepaid cards. When I told him I didn't want to give him my cell phone number, he told me they'd be coming to arrest me and hung up.
