Type of a scam Online Purchase
He told me to go to Walmart for the Moneygram as I had never heard of this method of payment. Luckily, after filling out the info on their computer, the cashier at Walmart stopped and told me this was a fraud and gave me a pamphlet which had all the numbers to contact to report this scam.
I called Patrick immediately to tell him how upset I was as we had just lost our Bichon of 14 1/2 years recently...which he already knew, and I couldn’t believe he would do this to a disabled person...which he knew, much less a person without disabilities.
His response was, since I told them I was purchasing a puppy, they automatically stop such purchases and I was to go to another Moneygram place and not divulge my reason for sending the money.
After talking to a nearby credit union and discovering there is no protection for the sender of this money...it’s like handing over cash, I was floored. No way to get your money back if you are scammed, so we came home and I contacted the Amarillo Police Department. They gave me the local BBB telephone number. When I called, she told me his operation was already under investigation for two previous complaints!
With a broken heart, I turned over all the info I had on Patrick, what he had said over our numerous phone calls as well as our emails which included him agreeing to a Paypal payment, as I insisted on this method with a Street Address, but instead he send me an email address and advised to click on option 2 which sends money to a family member or friend!
I wrote him one last time explaining this was a business deal, and if he were a reputable breeder, he would send his Street address, the name of his Vet and telephone number, and that we would love to visit his kennel and pick up our puppy. I told him a reputable breeder would love to have perspective buyers visit. I also told him how I felt if indeed he was a scammer.
