Look how official it looks, even stating about how the Dept of Education may offer an interest rate reduction, etc. When I spoke with the first person she sounded sincere and knowledgeable and I gave her my SSN =(, but when I spoke to the 2nd person it was bad, she was aggressive and kept interrupting me to make me quickly pull out my wallet. Then I said I had to call her back and she almost hung up on me. This is a disgrace that they take advantage of people especially right now.

I received a letter from a claimed-to-be government called "FDAC" and they wrote "Our records indicate that your federal student loan may be eligible for a consolidation with the U.S. Department of Education. As a federal student loan holder you may be eligible to convert your current high-interest loan into a federally-backed consolidation with a lower rate. These government programs are based on income and family size, aimed to be as affordable as possible fo each individual. Your loans in the amount of $****** may even be eligible for total loan forgiveness.

I called the place and provided the reference benefit ID, and they pulled up my information immediately. They asked me to log into my Federal Student Aid account and asked me to send them my Aid Summary so they can consolidate my loan. The first lady asked for two reference names and verify my social security number. She sounded very professional and someone who worked for the government. She then transferred me to her manager, called Erik Janez. He provided me his phone number in case of a disconnect, and asked for my phone number and email address, just like a professional workplace. He asked me what my situation is, and after I told him, he typed in my information and told me I am qualified for a full consolidation and no longer liable for my $***** student loan. He told me I will only need to make three payments: $333 due 5/26, $333 due 6/26, and $334 due 7/27 as a transaction fee, and I will be free from total student loan. After he asked for my bank checking and routing account number and signature of a document, I became more suspicious. After web searching for a while and still could not find anything about FDAC, I came across a complaint from BBB. The person who was scammed had a very similar experience as me, and I knew I was scammed immediately. I did not sign the document but I provided them my social security number, which is bad enough. I hope my experience can help someone who received the same letter and is suspicious.

I got a letter that said I am a legible forgiveness student loan . I contact the given number and a lady pickup the phone and start working with me and the whole time I was thinking she is belong to federal aid department. She transferred to other line this time it was a guy asked all the personal information and previous girl take all my information even loan deta to that she told me to download from my student loan account and emailed to her . The guy ask me all the information again and said my loan is forgiven and I have a 0 balance but I only have to make a 4 payments the amount of $274.75 . He took my bank account information and asked me some electronic sign and initials and then he transferred me another line and said it’s final process and I have to say yes all the Questions the third person will ask me and in the mean time the second guy was still with on the phone while I was transferd to 3rd person was a lady ask me few questions and I was again with 2nd person and he said they are sending en email included all the paperwork and that need it to hand sign of me . They send me an email including the detail and then when read the paper was saying the 4 payments is for preparing application fee . They did not mention about the fee anywhere and not anyone of them . I feel like scam and suspicious. I didn’t hand sign the paper and neither send them back . But call them the number they provide and ask them to cancel my application and I don’t want further assistance. The guy your application is cancelled with out asking me any Question and then I said what about the payments ? He said everything is canceled. I am still scared cause they have all my information. It’s make me more scared when googled and they scammed a lot of ppl . I called my bank too so they declined the payment if they still to take out but hope not .
