Received a call from San Antonio Texas 210-229-8618 saying my Google listing had a discrepancy press 1 to speak to someone. Pressed 1 and spoke to a man who said the listing wasn't "claimed by the owner" and they needed to update it. This is for a vacation rental property and my number is listed on it for some background. I said we hadn't had any issues with people finding the place. I thought I was talking to a Google rep. Gave him some basic info ex. Hours of operation, number of years in business, business address, mailing address, my name and email etc. Nothing that could really be used to hurt me. He goes on a bit and eventually tells me they normally charge $600 for the service but since it had not been claimed and verified in the past they would do it for $400. At this point I tell the guy there is no way I am paying $400 over the phone for something I don't know what it is. Send any info to the PO box and we'll go from there. The gentelman asks if I want to talk to his supervisor and I say yes. A female gets on the phone and tells me they will send a confirmation email after the payment and so on. I tell her the same thing I told him. NOT paying $400 over the phone. I will look over the email talk to the owners and go from there. She sent me an email that is very non descript and did not include my business listing info. Definitely came across as a scam. The phone number to call back on the email is a Palm Beach County Florida area code 561-508-0776. Business name was FDS Listing. Wish I remembered the names of the people who I spoke to unfortunately I don't. Hopefully someone can contact these people and check their credentials. Hope this helps people out if this was a scammer.
