Type of a scam Government Agency Imposter
The caller explained that he was from the Federal Gaming Commission and was required to identify me and asked if I was MY NAME from Brook Park. I told him that, that was correct.
He then went into a long spiel about him being with the Federal Gaming Commission and that I had been entered into a contest from the purchase of a qualified product I had made some time back from Walmart or some other box store I had made years ago. He asked if I remembered receiving a letter from the company. I said I had not.
He went on to say that to renew and continue the store’s gaming license the store had to make payout of winnings to me and others or else the store would lose their gaming license. So, it was imperative for me to make a call to American Data at 954-302-5379 giving them my Claim # 50062 which the representative could verify that it was me and they would send me an IRS Tax Form 1099 to sign so that I didn’t have to pay the taxes on the $450,000.00 (Four Hundred Fifty Thousand Dollars) that I had won.
He was very complementarily on my being cautious because of a possible scam but assured me that this was not a scam and gave me his name and phone number to call him back if I had questions. The name he gave me was MICHAEL OWENS at phone number 305-938-5294.
