I was contacted on my cell phone from a man with a heavy Indian type accent who was difficult to understand who called himself "Brad John". This was the third time this number had attempted to call me in two days. He said he was calling from the Verification Department from Federal Grants and that I was being awarded a $12,000 Grant because through a "Democratic Survey" I was determined to be a tax paying citizen that didn't file for bankruptcy or committed any felonies in the past 6 months. All I had to do was verify my information, (he knew my address and age), and pick a form of payment.... Either they could put it on my credit card, or I could go to a Walmart, Western Union or Walgreens to pick up a check. I was given a 5 Digit "Grants confirmation" number and a (646) area code phone number to verify and gain further instructions. I called and spoke to another Indian type accent female "Sarah" who confirmed my information and told me to go to a Western Union with a paper and pencil and to call Sarah "from the parking lot before I go in and stay on the phone during the transaction". She gave me her "direct extension" of 670 (even though she picked up directly when I called the (646) number. I told her that I did not apply for any grants, but she insisted that I was being awarded this from the government.

I am NOT going to do any of the above instructions as I am aware that grants are not awarded in this manner. This is a scam and I am concerned for others who may fall victim to the allure of free money. Please investigate this and stop it.
