The job listing was for a remote Chat Support role. The pay was far higher than what anyone would expect for an entry level position, but I thought what if? Well they, Marissa Gopaul (the hiring manager), reached out via text message a couple days after I submit my application saying they would love to schedule an interview. They interviewed me via text interview on an application called Signal. After completing what seems to be a very legitimate interview, she stated that I would need to stay online while she confers with her colleagues about my interview. After about 40 minutes she returned and stated that they would love to offer me the position. She asked for my email for me to receive the official job offer and that we would go over it the next morning. Well next morning comes around and I haven’t received an email, I explain this to Marissa and she states that the ‘domain servers’ are down and she will just send me the job offer through signal. After that she sent the check for the equipment along with the sign on bonus, a whopping total of 4,810 US dollars. I deposited the check into my account and the funds were pending for two business days. On the third day I called the bank and they said that the check was denied for insufficient funds on the senders side. That’s when I started digging around and found very similar claims and experiences to what I was going through. Haven’t heard from her since I asked/confronted her about the check bouncing.
