Received a letter notifying me of a civil lawsuit against me, they had the last 4 of my social and my address and a previous employer (20 years ago). Said I didn’t pay a payday loan, however I’ve never taken a payday loan or any other kind of installment loan. They threatened to garnish my wages and place a lien on my property and subpoena my mother. I called and asked questions, asked for a debt validation. Real people answered but the address is a PO Box. This was the most elaborate scam letter I’ve ever seen. Beware!!

Supposedly I have a letter coming in the mail from them today. I called and asked why they were trying to contact me. They are trying to say I took out a payday loan with some company back in 2014 for $200.00. I NEVER took out a payday loan. They are illegal in NC to start with. Secondly even if I did the SOL is way over. SCAM I am throwing the letter away.

They are trying to collect a debt from a check cashing place called ace cash express from 15 years ago which was paid off and they threatened to take me to court if i didnt pay $652 in a few days they also said they would subpoena family member that passed away around that time they also used my credit score and put it on there saying they would damage my credit if i didnt pay it is a total scam.

My fiancee was contacted by a supposed mediating company that was trying to collect on a payday loan. This loan is about 10- 12 years old and was paid off. They sent a notification of lawsuit/civil complaint via letter to our new address by postal service not law enforcement. The letter states that they would be suing her for fraud because she got the loan and then changed her bank account info. She does remember getting a loan with them but paid it off. Here's where the scam is. They have the last 4 of her social because once again she had gotten a loan with them 10 to 12 years ago. But the employer they have listed, she never worked there. A supposed family witness with the same last name is listed - we don't even know who that is. I researched the address. It belongs to the US Post office in Atlanta, GA. They have legit website but if you look them up, there is no fidelity legal services in GA. Then the letter is postmarked sent from Oregon. They also have our address but when they talked to her they originally sent it to the old address she had used, again 10-12 years ago. The Pay day loan was thru Ace Cash Express but trying to be collected by Fideltiy Legal services. Website FidelityLS.com. They also add a filed stamp for it to appear as if it was filed in court - which again if its filed, its a civil suit so you should be served the paperwork not mailed. They also listed her credit score and threatened to run her credit which would put a hard inquiry on her account. This was the laughable part. My fiancee's credit it bad. She went thru a divorce and her ex ruined her credit. The score listed was a 696 which we would take any day. Her actual score is in the 500's.

What did you do. I got a letter this week. It has been terrified. It was a old loan and I paid off as well. Did you call them or pay them?
