Contacted for secret shopper job opportunity through a person I know on LinkedIn. Received email saying I agree to start assignment. I received a check on 6/17/19 and letter saying to deposit check. Told me I would shop at one of three major stores in my area and purchase 5 gift cards for $500 each. After purchasing them I was to text the number starting with the 423 area code. After texting them immediately after I purchased the cards they would tell me how to complete the task. Letter/check came in post marked envelop from Los Angeles with no return address. Check is from a Waste Services Company in Columbia, SC. I have not deposited the check or texted them.
