After comparing prices online, I ordered a pack of 3 water filters that were advertised as the genuine GE RPWFE model. At $21 each, the price was much lower than other websites. Each filter came packaged in an individual box with the official GE branding and NSF certification. The filter itself looks authentic but doesn't work in my GE Cafe refrigerator. After checking it against my previous filter, I noticed that it didn't have the electronic chip required to be recognized by the water dispensing system.
This is a well-crafted scam! I've emailed filtersupplyshop.com to request a full refund. If unsuccessful, I'll dispute the charge on my credit card.
Fake water filters for GE fridge

- Orangevale, CA, USA

Filtersupplyshop.com is a fraudulent website that sells fake knock-off versions of General Electric refrigerator water filters. I spent 70 dollars on a three pack of GE XWFE filters labeled as “genuine”, but none of the filters has the requisite RF circuit under the label (like real GE filters) so the fridge does not recognize said filters and the fake filters will not function.

- West Palm Beach, FL, USA

I purchased refrigerator water filters from this "company" which appears to be in California. They are advertised as official GE water filters and the photos are identical to the one in my refrigerator. The price was a little lower than I could get at Lowes or Home Depot, so I ordered them. A pop-up ad offered two more at a discount, so I ordered them as well. Total price was $129.95 paid through PayPal. Shipping was supposed to take 5-8 days. Once I got tracking info, it showed shipping was from China instead of US. I was suspicious. It took a month to get the filters. When I installed one in my refrigerator, the water and ice maker did not work. I had a repairman come (no cost, still under warranty) and he said the filter was counterfeit. It's missing a chip that communicates with the refrigerator. I bought a genuine filter from the repairman. I contacted the FilterSupply company to return the filters and ger a refund. Email thread is attached. They explained that I could use a YouTube video to put a chip from my old filter on the new one as a way to by-pass the communications in the refrigerator. Doing so would void my warranty. Bottom line is they offered 60% of my money back and no returning the filters, then 80% of my money back and no return. I countered with 90% since I figured postage would be at least $13. I got my money refunded to PayPal yesterday, minus the $13. I was lucky. I have since done more research and realize that other customers got nothing back.

I paid $50 for genuine water filters

I received counterfeit filters

Genuine filters have an ID chip imbedded behind a label

The filters I received did not

They sold me knockoff counterfeit GE water filters from china!

I ordered genuine 3 genuine GE RPWFE water cartridges with RFID chips in them. The website claims they sell genuine GE water filters. I paid for the filters using PayPal and the filters were sent from China. Since GE filters are made in the USA I tried to call Filter Supply at the number listed on the website but it was not in service. When I received the filters they were counterfeit. I compared them to authentic GE filters. The fraudulent filters stated they were made in China but were packaged similar to GE filters otherwise. Behind the label on the filter where the RFID chip is supposed to go it is hollow and no working RFID chip is present. The filters weigh 10% less than an authentic filter. The error message on my refrigerator indicates the filter had NO RFID chip installed. When I contacted Filter Supply they responded they would not refund my money but send new (counterfeit) filters to replace the old ones. I reported the scam to PayPal dispute ASAP to fall within the timeline at PayPal to get my money refunded. In an email Kelly from Filter Supply also told me to cut the chips out of my old filters and put them into the new ones! They sent a YouTube link (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v9RWohwxFWg) to show me how to do it to make their counterfeit filters work! Even the YouTube link said I had to buy another chip since once used a filter RFID chip will no longer work on any filter forcing the customer to buy a new one. Filter supply refused to refund my payment and tried to stall me past the deadline to file a dispute with PayPal and to replace counterfeit filters with other counterfeit filters, knew their filters were counterfeit and tried to get me to pay for a good RFD chip from someone else to install into their counterfeit filters. A total scam site.
