Details:
- Found puppy "Arthur" on the website and requested information through their website's form. They emailed/ texted me within 24 hours regarding information about the dog. They also sent additional photos & videos.
- Upon agreeing to move forward, I venmoed them for the adoption fee and signed a contract (attached)
- They told me the dog would come to the airport, but on the day of transport told me that they paid the extra money for "at home delivery" for me.
- I received a confirmation email from United Transit that my dog was on it's way with tracking information (that linked to a real site).
- About 3 hours later I received a call from the transit telling me that the crate the dog was given to them in did not meet safety standards and in order to move forward i had to pay a 95% refundable fee to them for a proper crate for the dog, which could be done via zelle (they wouldn't take a CC)
- When I called the breeder to have them front this money they said they could not but that I'd be reimbursed and it has happened before .
- Zelle had a $500 sending limit, so they said the payment could be broken out via Zelle and Venmo
I sent the money and was expecting my puppy later that evening
- At 6:30 the company called me again, said the dog was in Memphis and they had to hold him there until an additional $850 was paid for additional insurance that wasn't included. I then got fishy and realized I'd been scammed.
- The breeder tried hard to get me to pay$ 650 and him $250 saying that's all the money they had. The "shipping" people kept calling to pressure me saying if I wanted the dog tonight I had to pay.
I refused to pay the second time, but had already paid the "breeder" $700 for the puppy and the "shipment professionals" $950 for the crate, assuming I'd get $900 back. I never received a puppy or any of my money back. Once I called them out for being a scam, they stopped trying to contact me.
