I was scammed by first student advisors I was told they would help get me out of default..this was not the case they took my money with NO service provided to me.. I asked for a refund almost a month ago and I have not receive my money back and now you can not get ahold of anyone at this fake company. Oh and now all emails I received from them have all disappeared ?

In October 2018, I connected with a Mr. Valentino *** from First Student Advisor to help lower my monthly student loan payments. I would need to pay them $232 for 6 months and then my monthly payments will go down to about $32 per month for 240 months. My loan will then be forgiven. Initially I felt this was too good to be true, but Mr. Carrillo ensured me that this was going to be a legitimate venture. Once I e-signed the documents, and provided my banking information, they started the monthly automatic withdrawals. I was asked to send in my proof of income information, which I did. After the second month, my current loan holders, ***, kept calling about my missed payments. I called Mr. Carrillo about this and his noted that they had not gotten my proof of income, and that *** usually takes a while to respond, but not to worry. I sent in my proof income AGAIN at his request.

I then continued to email Mr. Carrillo, who did not respond. I called his phone multiple times, and he never answered or responded to any of my messages. All this time, my loan has been in default, which in turn affected my credit score. It is unfortunate that it has taken me this long to realize that Mr. Carrillo (if that is really his name) and First Student Advisor scammed me out of $928 of my hard-earned money. After the fourth payment, I realized that they were not working with ***, as I had been informed.

Spoke to this so-called company (First Student Advisors) back in December. I was told this was a company hired as a 3rd party to provide loan forgiveness for student loans. Spoke to Nicholas Smith and was told a nice long speech about the law passed by then President Obama about this loan forgiveness act. After much hesitation and calls to the Dept. of Education I felt this service was legit, come to find out I don't think it is. I began paying on this 'loan forgiveness' in December and to date I have yet to receive a statement or anything in regards to payments being made. I've since made calls to the Nicholas Smith and to their toll-free number and there is now a recording that says to leave a message. I've sent an email as well requesting a full refund and to date no response. This is complete SCAM and should be investigated. Since speaking with Nicholas Smith and enrolling in this program, I have received calls from others claiming the same thing.

I was recently contacted by Jesse Benson and Lori Robbins from First Student Advisors. They stated that they were calling in reference to student loan forgiveness. I have always been cautious about these agencies but I had just applied for teacher loan forgiveness and I thought they were calling to verify my information. The first red flag was that they didn’t know how to spell my name. I became increasingly suspicious after they asked where I worked, how much I made, etc. Then “Jesse” made a mistake- he put me on hold. One quick internet search later, I knew I had made a mistake. After listening to his ridiculous spiel about how much I’d be saving, I quickly informed him that I wanted to be removed from all call/email lists, that I wasn’t interested in working with a third party that was working under the guise of the government and he promptly hung up. Upon closer inspection I realized “Jesse” changed the password to my Federal Student Aid account and had access to my information. Thankfully, I’ve already changed the password. Please, please, please use caution when talking with these people.
