Type of a scam Employment
He gave me an email of Megan Brennan ([email protected]) to contact and confirm my receipt of the email and confirm availability for an interview.
There was a description of the goal of the interview.
I sent an email to Megan and told her when I’d be available to interview.
Megan responded to me the same day and gave me a day/time for a virtual screening test/interview. This was set up for Monday August 17, 2020. She said it would take 60-90 minutes. I confirmed the date & time.
On Monday, Megan sent an email with an attachment with the questionnaire .
I completed the questions and emailed it back to her.
Within hours I received an email from her saying that Flowserve decided to hire me.
She asked me to confirm my full name, address, phone number and email which I did.
Megan then responded that I would receive an offer letter the following day. She said I would be provided payment to purchase equipment from the company’s accredited vendors. She said they would send the list of supplies I would need to purchase along with the offer letter. She said the vendors would send the equipment and someone from Flowserve would assist me in setting everything up (probably virtually because of Covid).
On Tuesday, first Megan emailed that the offer letter had been sent to my email & I had to read it, sign, and return it.
I received an Employment Offer Letter from David Hart (on company letterhead) and it was supposedly written by Elizabeth Burger , SVP, Chief Human Resources Officer.
I signed and returned the letter along w a copy of my drivers license.
I asked them to send the check to my parents address.
The check arrived at my parents home via FedEx on Wednesday morning. The return address was Milliken Chemical Company and check was drawn from Red Mountain Lighting and Energy Inc.
At this point we were all certain that this was not a credible offer and was in fact a scam. I did not deposit or cash the check.
Megan sent an email asking for confirmation that I received the check. I have not responded to them since. She also tried to contact me via Google Hangout. I have not responded to her.
