We then received a text and an email from the number and email provided. The “breeder” gave me additional information about the kitten, the cost of the delivery of the kitten, etc. The total cost quoted was $1030. Sadly, I sent this person our address.
However, before sending money, I wanted to check a few things that I initially thought were off. The phone number was not a Montreal area code, which is where they claimed to be. Second, the breeder claimed the cat would come TICA registered. I went to the TICA website to search for the breeder name. It was not listed, in any province or country. My partner and I then searched when the website was created, it was created on December 23, 2023. We continued to investigate further, so we reversed searched the kitten pictures on their website. All the kitten photos were searched back to a very legitimate Instagram, “OLGA_NAOMINEKO_CATTERY.” This breeder is listed as a registered breeder on the TICA website. All the photos of the same kittens were posted on this Instagram in 2021-2022. The fake breeder was claiming the kittens were 11 weeks old, which is clearly not possible.
I informed the fake breeder via email that I knew they were a scam, and blocked both the phone number and email.
