Ford Family Freight was very unprofessional, unorganized, and incompetent. First I was under the impression that a man named Allen ran the business and he and I negotiated 15% of the loads I will be delivering for him. He was very vague and with all the details he would give me on the loads I was taking. He would book a load that leaves out at 12:00am but I wouldn’t know anything about it until 10:00pm, 2 hours before the load is supposed to be ran. He would pay me in stipends and not all at once which really confused me. When I asked him about my pay he would bring up a guy named Khalid and tell me to ask him to pay me. I’m not sure who this guy was but when I called him he had no idea what I was talking about. Allen wouldn’t give me any information about the loads and how much they were paying so I always assumed that what I was being paid was 15%, I trusted him to paid me correctly, in full, and on time (when work was finished). At least that was what was discussed. It wasn’t until recently that I was informed that I was only getting paid $220 a day for the loads I ran. I never agreed to a flat rate fee and I was told 15%. I would have never agreed to $220 a day for five day trips. I pay for my own food, showers, and all of my own road expenses so $220 a day is not nearly enough. I would also be delayed and deal with overlay on certain trips/loads that I wasn’t compensated for. And these weren’t local trips either, these are cross country trips. He also informed me that I wasn’t on his insurance when I was under the impression that I was, considering that’s why I sent him my DOT physical and medical card. I can’t imagine what could’ve happened if I was ever in any accidents on the road. When I voiced my concerns/complaints to Allen he would gaslight me or bring up someone else’s name that I had no idea who they were. I also just recently found out his name isn’t on the LLC, but he’s acting as the managing member. I negotiated with him, I set up business with him. That’s also why I was so confused when I would ask him questions about business we’ve discussed and he’d give me the name of someone else. Allen never considered me as an “employee”, payed me late, letting me drive without insurance, and not keeping his word on what we agreed upon as payment. When I asked for payment from Allen this last time I called him out on his shady business and he retaliated by telling me he no longer wanted to do business with me.
