I received a call on my cell phone from "Jason" with a thick Indian accent, identifying himself as being from the Education Department of the USA. He stated up front that this did not require any credit card or social security information, only my street address so they could mail me the money. He stated that this promotion was for education and was without any strings attached and did not require any enrollment. All I had to do was answer a few "qualifying questions". These included whether I had completed high school for a diploma or gotten a GED, what field I was interested in "pursuing" higher education in, and whether I would be willing to apply to a university as soon as possible. He stated that there would be no follow-up on where the money was spent after I received it, so I could use it for anything I wanted to. He also said I needed to tell them I was 56 years old, born in 1962, graduated in 1980 and was interested in health care degrees. I am quite a bit older than that and I told him I would not lie about all these things. He told me 3 times that if I would answer like he told me to that I would receive the "Maximum amount". When I told him that I would have to think about it and call him back, he said that this was an internet call and I could not call him back. At that point I told him I was going to hang up because I did not lie about stuff like this, even if it was a legitimate offer, which I doubted. I was on the phone about 15 minutes and was careful to not answer "yes" to any questions. The phone # on my caller ID was 642-154-2141 with "United States" underneath it.
