THEY PREY ON THOSE WITH STUDENT LOAN DEBT AND SCAM THEM
Following that I was told that I had a one time payment of fee for services of $395 in total. This fee was for the services the Financial Officers were providing with filing the paperwork with the DOE for the student loan/Borrower Defense Loan Forgiveness. All I had to do was fill out the documentation they would send to me with as much detail as possible and attach my transcripts and degrees to the questionnaire. I followed through with all the request and payment to Freedom Financial. In the meantime I was told that I needed to login to my FAFSA account, however, I couldn't recall my password. The guy on the phone said he would send me a code to reset my password I just had to confirm the code, so I did and later on I get an email stating that my password had been changed for my FAFSA, which I never personally did. I didn't realize that code was sent from my Federal Student Aid Account which meant the guy on the other end was accessing my information already and just needed that final confirmation from the number on file.
This happened in November 2020 and here we are March 2022 and I haven't heard anything. I reached out a few times throughout the year and was told the first time that my application looked great and has been submitted and once they hear back they will contact me. I reached out again and was told again that my application has been submitted and is in review to hold tight and they will get back to me when processes start moving forward and they will keep me posted via email (to this day I haven't received one update). I called a few more times and was just told the claim is pending.
Here we are 16 months later (3/29/2022) and I call again. The tone of Richard (which is who email correspondences have been through) started out great and helpful and he assured me that my claim is still pending that the DOE has a lot of claims they are working through, but mine has been submitted with claim #XXX, however once I stated that the claim number doesn't match the claim number that I have his tone changed and he started to fumble his words and asked me what claim number I have. During his fumbling of words he then tried to "comfort" me with, "well I can give you the direct number to Borrower's Defense Representative", which by the way is only the Hotline number, not a direct contact. So at this time I decided to ask him if Joshua Burke still worked there (I provided an extension) he got fumbled again in his words and couldn't find him in the data base, so I asked if Andrew Smith still worked there and he checked (so he says) the data base, puts me on hold, comes back and says "he is still in the middle of a call, can I set up a time for Andrew to reach back out to you later today?" I tell him yes I will be available and Richard proceeds to say he'll call you back in an hour after his call. Then rushes me off the phone and hangs up pretty much without saying bye.
Now here I am writing filing this complaint as a first step as I am convinced this is another company preying on people in need and they are scamming them out of money along with gaining access to their personal information. Something needs to be done to stop this company and others out there and the people who are being taken advantaged of deserve reimbursement for the monies that have been fraudulently/deceptively taken.

Type of a scam Other
They called me saying they could possibly dismiss my loans. I was very resistant for 30 minutes but she(AKA Emily Reese) answered a lot of my questions so I moved forward with the conversation. She said they were paid by the DOE and that no fees would come out if I sign up and that it is possible I qualify for all of my loan to be forgiven. She then asked me to verify a code she sent to my phone. I did. Not realizing that code was sent from my Federal Student Aid Account to change my password (received an email later saying my password had ben changed). She never mentioned any thing about passwords or changing it. She also said she needed to confirm my identity more by getting my date of birth. Which clearly "Freedom Financial Aid" used to reset my password. STAY AWAY.
Type of a scam Advance Fee Loan
In his email he stated:
Now the best it to place both loan accounts into ICR/IBR programs where we can establish a $0 payment on the loans for term of 240months and after the 240 months the balance left on the account gets dismissed. If you ever want to pay them off sooner you can, but this gives u flexibility, makes your current payment $0 and if you stay in the program for 20 years then it all gets discharged at the end of the term.
The process didn’t sound legitimate as he was persuading me that this is the best option for my case.
I believe this company is a scam. Please look into this company !
