Type of a scam Employment
At first glance, the initial email seemed legit. A business email domain was used, and details about the job were indicated. However, the offered pay was too good to be true. They're offering $31.50/hr as a Freight Payment Specialist which is extremely suspicious. There was also a mention that the job was a limited time offer opportunity which is another red flag. Finally, the end of the email did not contain a proper business signature with contact information. For companies, no matter how obscure they are always have a professional business signature.
After the initial email, I started digging. looked up the company on Linkedin and they are non-existent. The website looked legit but this could easily been created by someone. The domain was registered this year. Looked up the name Cherry Nicolas, and the only match I see are profiles based in the Philippines.
Confirming my suspicions:
During the actual interview, they mentioned that a bank account will be created for me to use where the salary will be deposited. but in the meantime, they want me to use my PERSONAL bank account to receive payments. They will be reaching out for the next steps, but this will be as far as I will go. Clearly, this is a scam. Everyone should watch out for this. I'll be looking into formally reporting these guys, and hopefully, they haven't actually stolen any money from people before.
