I was trying to buy a Care Bears dog collar, dog leash, and dog bed. I originally found the products on the Petco website but they were sold out. The brand was Fresh Pawz, so I google searched the brand and products to try and find them. The first “Fresh Pawz” website says “Warehouse moving” at the top, and the products show up as “out of stock”. The second website I visited where the products showed up as in stock and ready to ship had the same company logo and states under the “about us” that this is the “new Fresh Pawz shop”. It said they accepted PayPal, so as a PayPal account owner for many many years and knowing my purchases are protected by PayPal, I proceeded to checkout. I put in my name, address, phone number, and email address. The final step was to select the payment method. I selected PayPal and it took me to the PayPal donation website with a message from the seller that made it obvious to me that it was a scam. If I proceeded with the paying and didn’t notice the use of PayPal donations, my money would have been considered a “donation” no matter what and I would never have been able to get it back. I took a screenshot of the page as it showed an order number and I had created an account on the seller website. When I returned to the seller page to look up the order, the order was there showing “awaiting payment” with a link to pay. But there were no longer any options for payment. Knowing this was a scam, I tried changing my saved personal information on the website, but it quickly stopped me by diverting me to a new page showing “You are now blocked from this website”. I took screenshots throughout the process and will provide if needed. Thank you in advance for investigating so this doesn’t happen to anyone else.
