I was a victum of a gift card scam! My intension was to purchase a puppy from a breeder in Colorado. I live in WV. The suposive brreeder had me sign a contract for the transfer of ownership of the puppy. We both sign the contract and it seem to be legit. The breeder was responsible for the delivery of the puppy plan to transport to me via plane then by car to my home though a delivery service Elite Delivery Solutions. The morning the puppy was plan to be delivered I was contact by someone is was posing as the delivery company stating that the puppy was requiring a special climate controlled carrier the rental was $2500 and Ins. for $900 He also sent me an email on letter head paper from delivery company with details about the carrier.. I told the agent the breeder was suppose to take care of the delivery of the pet. I was told that the Breeder offered to pay $1000 of the $2500 and I needed to pay the rest $900 + the $1500 and since I was now the owner of the pet and I am responsible for the puppy! I was threatened if I did not pay I would be charged, sued, and possibly arrested for pet neglect and abandonment. At this point I was concerned for the puppy so I agreed I was to pay. I was forced to pay by gift card since there was no way for the Agent to process a Credit Card and therefore when the puppy was delivered they would be able to refund me the money for all the above in cash. I reluctantly agreed for fear being charged with neglect and for the puppy's after several gift card in the amount of $3200 I was unable to reach the breeder or Agent and no puppy was delivered. I realized I was scammed and I was sick to my stomach. I contacted the gift card company to try and get my money back but they were unable to help me do this,Then I contacted my credit card companies and claim to have unauthorized charges on my card n hopes of getting my money back, but i am sure they wont be able to do anything either b/c I willingly purchase the gift cards. I feel ashamed ,embarrassed, and down right stupid. I recently loss my dog and they played on my vulnerability to scam. If you could provide to me any kind of assistance or resource in order to get my money back or at least prevent them from doing this to someone else.
