Type of a scam Government Grant
Thinking I was talking to my classmate I started filling out all the information needed. I did not give my bank account information. (Thank God.) Suddenly she began to become pushy. If I did not respond right away, she would text me asking where I was, that she did not want me to miss out and to get the information out as soon as possible. Then she said I could use her as the contact person to the person that was going to work with me. Then again, she got pushier. I began to feel a little suspicious. I asked her to call me. Her answer back to me was that the part on her phone that she hears through was broken and there was no need to call me because she would not be able to hear me. I asked where did she live now. She did say she lived in the city where we went to school. Again, she texted me and became more pushier, way into the night, 10, 11 & 12 PM. The next day, very earlier, she texted again using a text address listed by my former classmate. I thought then, if the person that is helping me, how did he use "her" text message address, not his. I then realized that I was in the process of being scammed. To check, I ask what else did I have to do to get the grant. He told me, that he was sending the check to me through FedEx and tell him what amount of money did I need, because, I would have to pay the FedEx delivery fee for the delivery and for me to not tell anyone at all about this because he did not want the FedEx driver to get robbed, knowing he had that kind of money for delivery.. I texted my classmate and asked her how much her grant was and how much was her delivery fee. He again texted me back (from her text address) and said "I" got $100,000 and my fee was $800.00. I knew then it was a scam. I confronted him and he all of a sudden became a devout Christian and that he would NEVER cheat anyone, that he was in the position to help people and that I should not, not trust him because he was going to help me. I told him again that he was trying to pull a scam. He texted me back-to-back, two and three times an hour for a whole day, asking "where are you, why are you ignoring me, over and over. I finally blocked him and contacted my bank and had them flag my account, even though I had not given him no more than my name and address, I still had them flag my account. I also found out the classmate account he used was a real account, but my classmate had moved from the city we went to school in and now has dementia. She does not function normally now. So, anyone get an out of the blue text message offering a Government Grant, Stop! Do not proceed, even if it comes from a known person text mesage I was fortunate that I determined it was a scam before I went further with him and lost money. He used the email address [email protected]. and told me his name was Dave Johnson...........Please, be aware!
