In looking for support through the internet for my Canon printer I encountered this site which was the very first choice offered for my printer type.
Many other "Canon" sites were below it. I called the number and a person with a foreign account answered - hard to understand -this did not seem all that unusual as I have talked to many foreigners on other sites with no problems. He had me download something to allow him to see my computer information to fix the problem. After a half hour of cruising through my personal data in order to fix the problem - he informed me that in order to do so, it would cost me $299.99,. I immediately declined and he hung up on me. This set off some alarms for me as he had been looking at all my personal data. I immediately called my Apple rep to find out what this was. I had just purchased a new Apple computer from them and was told to go on line to find the Canon site to sync up my printer with my new computer. They then recommended that I bring my computer and printer down to them as soon as possible. I did so and they ran a Malware test on my newly downloaded information. Nothing was discovered but this never should have happened to me. I believe this website is designed to take advantage of people like me who are not as computer savvy as many others with the intent of charging me for something that the real Canon site would do (and did) for free. I believe that the company listed first on the web must pay for that privilege, thus enableling themselves to illegally gain personal information and charge for that as well. They need to be banned from doing so. The REAL company should be listed first, not some scammer.
