Upon receiving the check, it was for nearly twenty times the amount what I had asked (pushing 2000 dollars). I looked at the shipping label on the FedEx package, and it was from CA. Yet, my ad was posted in NC, where he claimed to be taking leave from for about a week to vacation in FL with his wife. After checking that address and being unable to find it in California, I looked at the cashier's check. It was made out in a construction company's name up in NY. But the bank that it was from didn't have a specific address...just the city, state, and zip. And I couldn't find the company's secretary who allegedly signed the check, nor could I find the other signature.
After ample research, I emailed my regrets to "Gabriel," blocked his email and phone number, and reported him as a scammer. The check was never deposited, and I urge anyone who experiences anything along these lines to be cautious and to report it, if it comes down to that.
