I contacted the man through the email he left on the add, he signed his name Michael M. Louis on one of the emails. I sent in my application and he accepted it. He told me he talked to his lawyers and everything and he would be sending me the keys and contract through the mail. I card the condo complex to make sure this was real, and they said people own the apartments and if they Want to sublease they do that on their own not through the complex. The man emailed me and told me I had to put down my security deposit and first months rent, and I did. (Through cashapp. His handle is $aprylRmorgan) I then emailed him making sure everything was set for me to move in this Friday (August 14) and he told me that he sent out the FedEx package with my keys and papers and the IRS intercepted the package because I owe them $3,800 and I have to pay that ASAP or else I will not get the package. Therefore I knew it was a scam right there and then. I called him and acted like I didn’t know and asked if we could meet up and exchange the keys and he said he would let me know. The next day he emailed me saying unfortunately the apartment fell through and he will refund me my money.
I called the website I found the listing on (forrent.com) and they said it was only legal listings. Than I found the realtor that sold the condo in the first place and she said that a 60 year old couple just moved in there a few weeks ago.
